Toronto Police Services - 14 Division, located at 150 Harrison Street (near Dovercourt Road and Dundas Street West), is too small and antiquated to properly serve the public’s needs. Their Community Response Unit (CTU) is located at an entirely different location, in Exhibition Place.
In June 2007, the Toronto District School Board approved selling the former Heydon Park Secondary School at 11 St. Anne’s Road for a new police station building. Heydon Park is directly across the street from the current 14 Division headquarters, and as of September 15th 2008 became the property of Toronto Police Services. Construction of the new facility is slated to begin in 2010. I will be closely involved with the design process for the station with an eye to community needs and the City’s new Green Development Standards.
